    Why we love it

There’s no place better to explore this part of the world with friends, Denend is a riot of colour, style and fun

    What you'll love

    Dogs will love

    • Curling up fireside to wind down
    • Woodland wanders with their owners
    • Finding their sleepover pack

    Humans will love

    • The uplifting carousel of colour throughout
    • The incredible scenery of the Scottish Lowlands
    • Crafting dinner on the pizza oven

    The place

Exploring the Scottish wild is on everyone’s to do list – and there’s no better place for you and seven others to stay when you do. The house is a riot of colour, and you’d just as easily stay in, and enjoy the surrounds with a cup of tea by the wood burner – as you would the grounds nearby, the coast in easy reach or the Cairngorms just south. Settle into the comfort and focus on the better things in life. Quality time with your favourites, both two and four-legged, making wood-fired pizzas, breakfasts out on the deck, or clinking glasses in the hot tub, to the backdrop of a star-studded, unpolluted Scottish sky. End the day with the warm sound of vinyl on the record player, and a tuckered-out hound. Your only problem at Denend, will be where to start.

    In the neighbourhood

    • The Whisky Trail is not so much an official tour as an acknowledgement of the fact that there are enough distilleries in the area that some of them have their own category – Speyside malts. Glendronach and Glenfiddich are on the doorstep and worth a visit
    • The Flying Stag at Braemar is part of the fabulous Fife Arms Hotel and a great dog-friendly stop for food and drink. The Kale Yard Bistro (part of Boat House Hotel) has absolutely divine food with much home-grown produce from their walled garden
    • The Copper Dog has a really warm and welcoming staff to both dogs and their humans. Dogs are welcome in both the outdoor and indoor seating areas. Their food is locally sourced and delicious
    • Cullen, Sandend and Findhorn are the owner's particular favourite beaches, along with Sunnyside for the lovely rock pools, although Sunnyside takes a mile of walking from the car park to reach
    • The Glenlivet Estate has fabulous mountain bike trails and Tarland Trails is fabulous for children while still being a challenge for adults with its graded trails situated in Drummy Woods, Tarland
    • The Lecht ski centre, which runs activities in summer as well, is only an hour away in the car and Aviemore’s slopes are only a little further away
