    Why we love it

A lavish stay in a grand old Georgian building, with plenty to do inside and on site. Sink into a roll-top bath or a hot tub... the choice is yours.

    What you'll love

    Dogs will love

    • Finding the treasure trove of treats left for them
    • Being directly in your way whilst trying to cook in the kitchen
    • Looking underfed near the BBQ

    Humans will love

    • Playing games in the garden room
    • Taking a dip in the indoor pool on site
    • Dining like royalty in the dining room

    The place

Sometimes one of the best treats we can have, is staying somewhere suitably regal – and the Georgian House delivers just that. Spend a few days padding around in luxury, enjoying the stunning interiors, lounging around in the spacious living room – or competing for the right not to wash up in the garden room, with table tennis, table football or darts. There are plenty of places to kick back here, by the roaring fire, the sofa in the garden room, the onsite indoor pool or even the shared games room – but if you’re hoping to enjoy something a little more refined, try dinner in the lavish dining room. Here you’ll dine like royalty, complete with a mischievous four-legged prince or princess under the table. It’s going to be hard to escape the pull of everything at your place, but nearby, there’s plenty to do and see, and you still get to head back and retire to the roll top bath at day’s end.

    In the neighbourhood

    • Take the drive down to the Braunton Burrows to Crow Point walk, which is just a 40-minute drive. If you take the car from to Saunton, it’s a two hour round trip. The walk will take you and your dog on a tour of the dunes and slacks, where you’ll spot wetland creatures and 470 species of rare plants
    • Hop in the car and head over to Bull Point Lighthouse to take on the walk to Morte Point to the southwest. Known locally as the ‘Seals and Smugglers’ route, we recommend bringing some binoculars, as you might spot Atlantic seals or porpoises if you’re lucky! Depending on the time of year, the gorse and heather provide the perfect breeding ground for butterflies and moths, as well as birds like kittiwakes and terns
    • It’s only a 35-minute drive to Baggy Point from Braunton, so pop over with the hound to check out the SSSI status viewpoint. It overlooks Croyde beach, one of North Devon’s best surfing spots, and you might spot climbers scaling the cliffs or coasteerers… coasteering. This spot’s maintained by The National Trust and is three paw rated for dogs! You’ll access this point from The South West Coastal Path, and on the way you might encounter livestock, so just be sure to lead up where appropriate
    • You’re on the edge of Exmoor National Park, and all that’s hidden away there. It might be coastal strolls, beach visits, market towns or pretty fishing villages or something as simple as a walk across the moors. If your hound is a fan of the forest, take a trip around the Dunkery & Horner Wood National Nature Reserve, which can be found at the heart of the Exmoor National Park
    • You don’t need to go that far to find some dog-friendly activities here – it could be as simple as a four-minute drive, or even better, a twenty-minute walk to the beach – at Combe Martin. But if you’re in the mood for a beach tour, there’s also Putsborough Beach which is a half-hour drive, and Woolacombe at twenty minutes (though there are some seasonal dog restrictions – so do check)
    • If you’re in the mood for a bite to eat or a coffee, there are plenty of options! Nearby, there’s the Foscle Inn or the Pack o’ Cards to grab a bite to eat with your dog. A little further afield, there’s Woolacombe, Barnstaple and Braunton – all with plenty of dog-friendly options available, from coffee shops to beachside huts and Inns and pubs, this stretch of Devon is packed full of places to dine with a hound.
