Why we love it
With nothing but open fields and footpaths for miles around your cool cosy cabin just north of London, and a firepit for sundown, it’s a perfect spot to settle in
"We will definitely be booking again"
We booked Hare Field Cabin for a couple of nights. We loved it! Everything we needed was there, plenty of information was sent to us before we arrived. We will definitely be booking again.

The place
Hare Field Cabin is a fantastic little break from the sound of the city, bringing you all the peace and freedom of the gentle Suffolk countryside. The surrounding fields and footpaths are perfect for dogs and humans to roam. Following those footpaths will lead you to all sorts of places, but a favourite route is to go through the pretty village of Liston and along the river to Long Melford. It’s only a few miles and yet you have a choice of dog-friendly pubs to stop into as you go. There’s canoeing and kayaking on the River Stour if you and your dog are water lovers and charming medieval villages to explore, plus the simple joy of getting some local food, firing up the BBQ and watching the sunset over the fields.
In the neighbourhood
- Walk from the door: Exit the property and turn right onto the road. About 10 metres along, you’ll see a public footpath on your left. Follow this path along the edge of a field to begin a scenic country walk, but you can walk the field perimeter (that Hare Field Cabin is in) to many different public footpaths in many different directions.
- The Swan, 7-minute drive: serving beautifully cooked pub classics as well as a range of world foods. Pop along for some live music, or a crack at the billiards table. It’s dog-friendly in every area but the restaurant.
- The Crown, 23-minute drive: There's a regularly changing 'Catch of the day' menu showcasing artisan regional and local suppliers, alongside some pub classics for the less adventurous.
- Felixstowe Beach, 57-minute drive: Head on over to Felixstowe Beach for a morning or an afternoon of fun chasing up and down the beach and then explore the town together. Some seasonal restrictions may apply, so do check before you go!
