The place
Awash with colour, this large wagon is in its own quiet patch of mixed woodland on the Spring Park Estate. Whilst you might enjoy the pretty period pieces adorning the walls and shelves or the 1940s cinema seats you can relax into, the kitchen is fully modern, to cook anything from a fancy breakfast to a romantic dinner to enjoy by the window. You’ll love whiling away the hours with your dog, watching them seek out new smells, and trot happily through the garden, whilst you share a glass of something under the tree canopy or even better, in the wood fired hot tub. When it starts to get cooler, call the dog in to join you by the crackle of the wood burner, and retire to the cosiest of bedrooms.
If you’re in the mood for a bite to eat, or maybe a glass of something fireside, pop into The Springer Spaniel pub just under a mile down the road. It’s dog friendly, with all the pub classics you’d hope to see on the menu. If you’re lucky – you might also get to meet Ernie, the pub dog – with the title of ‘cuddle-master’. A little further away, there’s The Manor at Rilla Mill, The Crows Nest – both well worth a visit, and both dog friendly
Looking to enjoy cooking something special? If you’re wanting to sample the local produce, there’s a few places to stock up on supplies nearby. The nearest is three miles away in Stoke Climsland, where you can pick up produce at the local Post Office, but there’s also several larger supermarkets at Launceston five miles away. Otherwise, there’s fresh vegetables down the road on sale at Tamar Organics, and farm shops dotted about for local produce
If you want to take the dog on a tour of the local towns, in search of new and adventurous sniffs, there’s several in easy reach. Head to Tavistock, a half hour away, for the famous Pannier Market which has been running for 900 years. Fowey is an hour away, but worth the journey – famous for its mussels and seafood. Looe and Tintagel are similar distances, in opposite directions, giving somewhere to visit within 40m on either side of the coast for a coastal walk and a pint with a great view
There’s so much to do to be active nearby. If you’re bringing the bike to explore tracks – there’s The Camel Trail nearby to run the length of. If hikes are more your game (and the dog’s in the mood for an adventure), take to Dartmoor or Bodmin Moor, half an hour away in opposite directions. Surfers will love how close they are to either coast, but even those not looking for a wave to ride will enjoy letting the hound off the lead for some fresh sea air
There’s a good chance you’re looking for a walk to tire out your four-legged friend, and you’re in luck! There’s almost too many to mention. For some lovely wooded walks, take a quick drive to Cardinham Woods or Golitha Falls for some woodland strolls. For waterside romps, there’s Roadford, Siblyback or Burrator Reservoir to wander for an afternoon. There are incredible walks everywhere nearby, whether famed or not, and it’s well worth exploring the Tamar Valley AONB, Bodmin Moor or Dartmoor – all within half an hour’s drive
Everyone loves a trip to a National Trust estate, and you’re in luck – they’re dotted about all around this area. There’s Lanhydrock country house, where you’re welcome to bring your dog to the café or Stables Tea Rooms, Cotehele Tudor mansion – with its 1,300 acres of woodland and fields. At Buckland Abbey, there’s colour coded walks for easier and harder strolls through the grounds and at St Nectan’s Glen there’s a waterfall walk with a café to admire, and fuel up at, with your dog.

Booking guide
Every booking at Paws & Stay is about the dog. You will see how many dogs are allowed at a place on their page and in search results and then you can add them during the booking process. While your dogs are more than welcome, of course, our owners hope you’ll still make sure your dogs are well behaved. There may occasionally be rooms (and furniture) that are off limits to dogs, but not to an extent that will impact your stay. If they can’t be in the room with you, they’ll have a lovely, cosy spot of their own. You can see any restrictions in the 'For the Dog' section of a place.
How to book
All you need to do is select an available check-in date, underlined in gold on the calendar, and see what options appear for your stay. If the stay is within ten weeks of the date on which you’re booking, you’ll need to pay the full cost of the stay. If it’s further than ten weeks away, you’ll have the option of paying a 25% deposit.
When you book, you’ll be able to use the email address you supply to log in and make any further payments whenever you like. We will notify you when your balance is due and be in touch if it goes unpaid past that date.
If you have any questions about a place, you can email us on bookings@pawsandstay.co.uk. Call us during office hours (Monday to Friday, except Bank Holidays, 0900 to 1800) if you have any problems with booking and we can usually sort things out over the phone.
Paying your balance
If you paid a deposit when you booked, we’ll let you know when your balance is due, but you can log in to your account, which is automatically created when you book, to pay it at any time. You can also log in and pay off a little of your balance at a time.
Deposits and balance payments
If your booking is made more than ten weeks in advance of your arrival date, you’ll have the option to pay a 25% deposit. The full balance will then be taken from the same card you pay with. You’ll be able to pay the balance on a different card at any time by giving us a call. If your balance payment fails, don’t worry. Your booking will not be cancelled but we will need to get in touch with you within a week to secure the balance payment.
