    Why we love it

Hidden amongst the trees, Hideout Treehouse is the perfect place to relax surrounded by wild, with a freestanding bath that can move inside to out, and a drawbridge across to the hot tub deck

    What you'll love

    Dogs will love

    • Looking hard done by, next to the outdoor stove
    • Following their nose round the 20 acres of estate
    • Finding the welcome hamper long before you

    Humans will love

    • The secret walkway to the woods
    • Using the stargazing telescopes
    • Dipping into the moving copper bath

    The place

Hidden on Sleepy Owl Estate’s lower valley slope, this treehouse is tucked away from the world, leaving only views of the starry sky above, or the wild below. Spend the day exploring the six acres of meadow onsite or explore the 14 acres of private woodland adjacent, to tucker out your dog and stretch your legs. When you get back in, from there or the many days out nearby, there’s relaxation by the bucketful, a wood fired hot tub, or the bath – which can move from inside to out! Make use of lazy afternoons and cook indoors or out, with the rustic kitchen or the pizza oven and BBQ that looks out onto the woods. When the night gets cool, retreat inside to the log burner, and crack into a bestseller, or break into a blockbuster – with the movie projector in the living room.

    In the neighbourhood

    • Take a drive out to the coastline, and walk the length of the coast, from Blackchurch Rock to the visually stunning Speke’s Mill Mouth Waterfall, which trails off of the nearby rolling hills, and down to the sea
    • This section of the Hartland Devon Heritage coast is an hour’s walk away and there’s streams, hills and fields to explore with your four-legged friend. You’ll be lost for where to start.
    • There’s also many pubs and restaurants within driving distance that are worth the extra miles, there’s The Royal George in Appledore – 33 minutes away, and renowned for both its incredible position on the seafront, and its mouth-watering menu. There’s also the Johns of Instow café, serving locally roasted coffee, traditional to adventurous fare and both, very dog friendly
    • Being right on the edge of Devon, by the border to Cornwall, the Sleepy Owl Estate is placed in the middle of a goldmine of wild spaces. You can head to either Sandymouth beach 20 minutes away, Crooklet's Beach 30 minutes away or Saunton Sands 54 minutes away – all dog friendly all year round. There are however, plenty more beaches nearby, just check seasonal restrictions on when dogs are allowed
    • You can take the half hour drive down to the Tamar Lakes near Kilkhampton, and spend the day trying out some water sports on the lake, including kayaking, canoeing, paddleboarding and fishing. You’ll need to keep your dog on a lead, and out of the water – as the blue green algae can be dangerous for them!
    • There’s a number of village pubs in walking distance, The Hart inn, The King’s Arms, and The Anchor – all serving classic pub fare, and dog friendly.
