The place

Spend a few days in a period dog-friendly cottage that will have you living out your cottagecore dreams. With its position in the little village of Coleford, you can use Homekot as a launchpad to explore the best of the West Country, with Wells, Glastonbury and Bath all around a half hour’s drive. You can also just tuck yourself away in the countryside, and enjoy a few days of long walks, country pubs, fine food from farm shops and nights in front of the fire. There’s something to occupy every hour of the day. Whether it’s breakfast under the wooden beams of the kitchen, and a mid-morning coffee in the enclosed garden – an afternoon spent in the roll-top bath (for you) and a rinse under the warm outdoor hose (for the dog) after a long walk, or just nights flicking through a book by the fire, with your four-legged friend cuddled beside you!

In the neighbourhood

  • Walk from the door: Turn right out of the front door and cross the stream. Take the footpath on the right and fork right to follow the stream through the woodland. On leaving the woodland, cross the first field (be aware of potential livestock in fields) then go through the gate to the next field. For a short walk turn right here and follow the track down through this field and across the stream and then walk through the Mill and up Mill Lane, turning right at the top to return to the cottage, bearing right at the junction.
  • The Holcombe, 7-minute drive or 39-minute walk. This dog-friendly Inn warmly welcomes two- and four-legged visitors. Their award-winning kitchen creates dishes that celebrate British cooking with a contemporary twist.
  • Holcombe Farm Shop & Kitchen, 10-minute drive. Pop into the farm shop for supplies, and stay for the food, perhaps even a drink – there’s even events on, so be sure to check their calendar.
  • The Kings Head, 1-minute walk. Visit this dog-friendly pub across the road for a pint of something local by a roaring fire.
