The place
With miles and miles of the Cornish countryside around you, you’re spoilt for choice when it comes to dog-friendly activities. If you’ve got the eager and energetic kind of dog, Seaton beach is an easy half hour’s drive from the space, giving you access to a morning or afternoon of strolls on the beach, and with the South West Coast Path available to wander, you can stroll even further to burn off some energy. Closer to home, for those little-legged kinds of hound, there’s easy walks from the door that can take you down river paths, and through the woods. There’s also lots of dog-friendly pubs in the locale to take them, where they’ll be warmly welcomed. Once you’re back and ready to kick back by a crackling firepit, there’s a mud daddy to help you rinse off, and a lovely bit of grass for a nap (two legged guests may prefer a sofa).
In the neighbourhood
- Walk from the door: From our gateway, turn left down the lane until you reach the bottom. Then turn right and follow the lane along by Old Mill. As you reach the little bridge, turn right into the woods. From here you can walk through the woods and alongside the small river which is fabulous for dogs to play in. You can loop around through the woods or turn around at the end to head for home.
- The Springer Spaniel, 10 minutes’ drive: Dog friendly in all areas of the pub (as you’d imagine with a name like that), it’s a perfect choice to go grab a bite to eat with a hound in tow. Local beers, and gastro pub style food – it’s a classic pub’s pub.
- Seaton Beach, 36 minutes’ drive: Dogs are welcome here at both ends all year round, with some restrictions in the middle between May and September. A mixture of shingle and sand, with the South West Coast Path easily accessed – perfect for everyone.
- Kit Hill, 40-minute walk: Though it’s easily driven to, this can make for a lovely 40-minute walk. Head over to Kit Hill for panoramic views of the countryside, and even a visit to the old quarry (or not if you’re trying to keep the dog dry).
