The place
Just a couple of miles from the Anglo-Scottish border, and even less to the sea, you’re surrounded by stunning countryside, beaches and endless coastal walks. Spend a few days relaxing with your dog, taking long strolls to explore cliffside ruins, castles and stately homes nearby. You’ve got all you need to settle in at Little Lamberton, with a calming interior of blues and wood tones, a kitchen/dining space to refuel after adventures and a sofa to settle on with the dog (on a blanket) and listen to wood burner crackle. There’s also a full-size pull-down bed, and an indoor bathroom perfect to start the day fresh or wash off adventures. Outside, the space is a two and four-legged dream, with use of the whole field to run in, sniff and explore – as well as an outdoor space with deck chairs by the firepit, bean bag chairs on a covered deck next to the Gozney pizza oven, a movie projector and even a wood-fired hot tub.
In the neighbourhood
- Walk from the door: Head out of the gate and turn right, follow the single-track road down the road. After about 40 minutes you will reach the village of Ayton where you will find Ayton castle and grounds, head through the castle gates and enjoy exploring the estate. Before heading back up the road, why not pop into Ayton Village store for some refreshments
- Cheswick Sands, 20-minute drive: There’s no restrictions on dogs at Cheswick Sands, nor Goswick Sands, the attached stretch of beach that stretches all the way to Holy Island! Spend an afternoon exploring the dunes and coast
- Paxton House, 15-minute drive: You can take the dog out for some incredibly scenic strolls amongst the grounds of Paxton House, a pink sandstone Palladian house built in 1758. Dogs are not permitted inside the building, but are welcome in the Stables Tearoom, gift shop, marquee, courtyard, toilets and throughout the grounds and gardens
- Bamburgh Castle & Beach, 40-minute drive: Take the dog down to Bamburgh beach, which has no dog restrictions, and then to the castle to explore – whilst they’re not allowed inside the castle itself, they can visit the outdoor castle grounds, the Victorian Stables, and the Tack Room Takeaway
