The place

With its back to a National Nature Reserve, Marshmede Cottage is surrounded by wonderful walks to take with your dog. Just 20 minutes drive from Canterbury, and 20 minutes drive to the sea – you’re perfectly placed in Kent to discover the very best of the region. With so much nearby, it’d be all too easy to only see this place in the mornings, or at night when you settle down, but don’t miss the chance to enjoy the beautiful surroundings of this cosy period cottage. Take a moment to tune out under wooden beams and exposed brick, dining by the fire, or breathing in the fresh air in the enclosed garden -- all with your favourite four-legged friend by your side!

In the neighbourhood

  • Walk from the door: Stodmarsh National Nature Reserve, a ten-second walk away! Sat just behind the cottage is a gorgeous little patch of lakes to wander around and explore (with dogs on leads)!
  • Reculver Beach, 25-minute drive. Dogs are welcome all year round with no restrictions, and the water’s lovely and shallow – making it an easy spot to swim
  • The Red Lion, two-minute walk from the front door. A cosy dog-friendly pub, serving classic fare. Stop off for a pint with the hound
  • Hugo’s Fun Dog Field, 24-minute drive. Privately hire the space and let your dog run wild in this three-acre field, with 6ft fences!
