The place
This place is the farmhouse of dreams. If your commute’s been filled with flights of fancy about padding across cool stone floors for your morning cuppa, dipping your head below the wooden beams to pass through doors, cosying up in the reading nook windowsills or retiring for the night into a grand wooden four poster bed – well, dream no longer – it’s a reality. Old Farmhouse is on the Coulscott Cottages site, and other than its beautiful confines, it benefits from the same great on-site elements as its sister accommodation, an on-site indoor pool, the animals to visit (over 50!), and you can even book massages and yoga classes during your stay. With one of the most gorgeous stretches of Devon coastline on your front doorstep, you’re going to struggle to work out what to do first.
In the neighbourhood
- Favourite Walk Nearby (10 min drive): Enjoy a scenic walk through ancient woodland in the Heddon Valley, leading to the sea between some of England’s highest cliffs. A designated Site of Special Scientific Interest, the valley is rich in wildlife, including otters and the rare high brown fritillary butterfly. Don’t miss the restored 19th-century lime kiln on the beach
- Bull Point Lighthouse, 35-minute drive: take on the walk to Morte point to the southwest. Known locally as the ‘Seals and Smugglers’ route, we recommend bringing some binoculars, as you might well spot Atlantic seals or porpoises if you’re lucky!
- Baggy Point, 35-minute drive: Overlooking Croyde beach, and one of North Devon’s best surfing spots, you might spot climbers scaling the cliffs or coasteerers… coasteering. This spot’s maintained by The National Trust and is three paw rated for dogs!
- Dunkery & Horner Wood, 40-minute drive: Take the dogs for a trip around the woods, searching for smells and burning off that excess energy. Just be sure to lead up where necessary.
