Why we love it
A stunning backdrop, an enclosed garden to let the dog run happy circles, plenty of adventures nearby and a firepit for day’s end
"A dream for our little London dog"
The Pavilion is dog friendly - not tolerant and there is a huge difference. Our little rescue is very reactive but this place is a dream for our little London dog.

The place
There’s no approach like the one you’ll take to The Pavilion. It sits at the end of a drive, with a meadow in front and a pine forest soaring up at its back. Right at the edge of the Norfolk/Suffolk border, the cabin was once a cricket pavilion but now lives out its days creating a relaxing space to either venture out from and explore the countryside, or kick back in for some downtime. Start the morning with a coffee at the table on the porch, whilst the dog happily circles the cabin and stretches their legs. You can plan the day ahead, whether that’s heading out to the coast, or to Norwich for some dog-friendly days out. Closer to home there are trails to follow, and nature reserves to adventure in with the hound, but whatever you end up doing, you’ll spend nightfall looking up at the stars around a crackling firepit!
In the neighbourhood
- Walk from the door: Turn right at the bottom of the drive and then right again at the crossroads. You will enter Knettishall Heath and find signposted trails here including one off-lead walk. It takes around 15/20 mins to walk to Knettishall Heath from The Pavilion.
- The Pingo Trail, 22 minute drive. An eight-mile walk that takes you through the Norfolk countryside past a series of ‘pingo’ ponds, with plenty of flora and fauna on the way.
- The Fox Inn, four minute drive. Down the road in Garboldisham, you'll find this cosy dog-friendly pub where you can grab a drink. Be sure to check out their regular nights or events.
- Folk Café, 30 minute drive. It’s worth the drive over to Fornham St Martins to grab a speciality coffee and some of the fine local produce at this friendly dog-welcoming café.
