The place
Wrapped in miles of countryside, Penhallow is ideal for a few days of quiet calm with the dog. Just a half hour’s drive from the sea, you can either spend your time wandering country lanes and crossing stiles into nearby verdant fields or taking ear-flapping walks along the coast. If you’ve got a four-legged sophisticate, you might like to take the hour’s drive to Norwich for the cobbled streets and many cafés. Or take the hour’s drive to Thetford, where there’s historic sites at every turn, as well as Thetford Forest which has 47,000 acres of woodland to explore and is highly dog friendly. If you’re keen to stay in and enjoy lazing about, then there’s a large lounge to stretch out in, and you’re welcome to cuddle the dog on the sofa (on a blanket). Pick up supplies from farm shops and fishing villages, cook them up in the modern kitchen and enjoy your locally sourced food at a sunny al fresco table.
