The place
Whilst the outside might look a quaint, countryside classic, the interiors here are anything but. There’s a spacious modern kitchen with a breakfast bar to sit high above a jealous hound – and just outside, the enclosed garden, where you can dine al fresco -- although you may be a little closer to the guilt-tripping of puppy dog eyes. This is the perfect spot to simply revel in the great outdoors. There are miles of countryside in every direction, and with its position on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales National Park – there are adventures right on the doorstep. After a busy day of exploring, grab a blanket for sofa cuddles and bask in the warmth of the wood burner, trying (and failing) to keep your eyes open.
In the neighbourhood
- Walk from the door: Head down the country path, and cross over the little beck bridge onto Harrison fields, where the dog can run riot off lead.
- The Golden Lion, 22-minute walk. Your dog will get a very warm welcome at this cosy pub, with dog towels for muddy paws at the door, dog treats on the bar and a roaring fire for warm afternoon naps.
- The Yorkshire Three Peaks, 40-minute drive. Just up the road, you can find the three peaks of Pen-y-Ghent, Ingleborough and Whernside, each of the hikes being 6, 10, and 7.5 miles respectively – perfect for active humans and dogs!
- Malham Cove, 20-minute drive. This cliff formation is famed for its incredible views and appearance in a Harry Potter film. Immerse yourself in the beauty of nature while enjoying a little quality time with your dog.
