Why we love it

This stunning little farm bothy is the retreat in Dorset you’ve been looking for. Try your best (and fail) not to spend all day at the pool, in the sauna or soaking in the outdoor bath

What you'll love

Dogs will love

  • Exploring the whole of the Cranborne Chase AONB
  • Becoming king or queen of the enclosed courtyard
  • Spending their pocket money on tennis balls at the on-site shop

Humans will love

  • Taking a cheeky afternoon dip in the outdoor bath
  • A morning swim and steam at the on-site pool and sauna
  • Just ‘resting their eyes’ by the wood burner

The place

Sitting on an organic family-run farm, The Bothy is a cosy ivy-covered place, with a soothing, muted colour palette and flourishes of stylish design. There’s a large kitchen to make use of the incredible local food (which you'll find just next door in the on-site shop), a plush sofa for settling in by the fire, and a king-size bed to fall into at day’s end. Outside, you’ll find the enclosed courtyard area, complete with a BBQ, and an outdoor bath for an afternoon dip. Explore the endless fields nearby, hop to the coast and then return to the indoor pool and sauna – to really drop those shoulders.

You should know

  • This is a working farm so you may come across the owner's dogs and livestock such as chickens, sheep and cows, so please keep your dog on a lead when wandering around the site
  • If you're lucky, you might meet the owner’s friendly dogs around the site
  • Dogs aren't allowed on the sofa or bed, so please bring their bed with you (although they'll love toasting their belly on the heated floors too!)
  • There aren’t any hunts on site, but as this is a rural location, neighbouring farms do run commercial shooting Oct-Feb. However, the owner has a noise sensitive dog and doesn't seem to react to the sounds as they are a few miles away
  • The pool, sauna and areas of the site are shared with other guests
