Why we love it

Plenty of walks with dog friendly pit stops, in the heart of the Cotswolds. End the day with a BBQ in the courtyard and long soak in a roll top bath

What you'll love

Dogs will love

  • The enclosed courtyard for bathroom breaks
  • Looking dolefully at the treats out of reach on the side
  • Stopping off at the two dog-friendly pubs

Humans will love

  • Keeping up the fitness – complimentary local gym access
  • Snaffling the welcome basket of local fudges and juices
  • Barbecuing up a storm in the enclosed garden

The place

Spacious and airy, The Coach House is perfectly placed in the heart of the Cotswolds. With endless paths and bridleways criss-crossing the colourful hedgerows and fields, step out in the morning and traverse the country, until your four-legged friend is knackered. Although there are a couple of lovely dog-friendly pubs nearby, it’s a pretty rural area unless you head into Cheltenham, so this is less a place for adventure and more one for catching up – on the books you’ve been meaning to read, the recipes you haven’t the patience for at home, and quality time with your significant others, four legged and two. Back at home you can make use of the well-equipped kitchen, or the BBQ in the back garden, with seating indoors and out – to cook the dishes you simply don’t have time for at home. At the end of the day, have a soak in the roll top bath, and curl up on the comfy sofa, dog spent and draped over your feet.

  • A number of other charming Cotswold villages within a 20-minute drive: Lower Slaughter, Stow-on-the-Wold, Bourton-on-the-Water and Bibury
  • The historic market town of Cirencester, worth a visit for the now ruinous Roman amphitheatre, followed by a tour of the Corinium museum, where the relics of the roman legacy of the town now rest. For those looking for more contemporary features, pop into the New Brewery Arts centre – housing local artisan’s work, studios and a café to refuel
  • Daylesford Farm shop just a 25-minute drive away, selling organic produce, organic meat, bread, and much more. As well as all the food on offer, there’s climate conscious cleaning products, skincare and wine – and events on occasion with chefs and authors coming to visit.
