The place
Wake early, and sip espresso at the breakfast bar, planning routes and wishing you had a dog pannier for your little adventurer. If you’re taking it easy, or you’ve had a long day of exploring, rest and recharge in the outdoor bath, cook the dishes you’ve been bookmarking for free time – in the stylish kitchen, and end the day with a royal sleep, dozing off in a four-poster bed. There’s so much to do nearby, with the sea a short drive away, you’ll struggle to choose between running wild with your dog, and relaxing back at your place.

You should know
There is some livestock on site, so owners are asked to keep dogs on lead when in communal spaces (except in the dog walking field where they are welcome to roam free)
There is a £200 damage deposit per property, payable one week before your stay. Assuming all is well, this is refunded within two weeks of your departure
Please keep dogs off the beds, and if they like to be on the furniture, please bring throws
Pop out and grab yourself some supplies to cook up a feast back at your place. Nearby, there’s a range of standard shops to stock up, in Comford, Lanner and Ponsanooth – but for a treat, try Portreath Bakery in Lanner for mouth-watering baked goods or Cusgarne Organic Farm for everything from fruit and veg, to meat, to cheese, coffee and much more
There are many places to go grab a drink, almost too many to mention, but some standouts are: the Fox & Hounds just a mile or so up the road, where well-behaved dogs are welcome on leads – and most excitingly, they offer a dog snack menu! Another great contender is the Seven Stars Inn, family and dog-friendly just 3km walk!
You’re never far from the beach in Cornwall, it’s just a question of which ones! Gyllyngvase beach in Falmouth is a great spot to walk the dogs. It’s a blue flag beach, generally calmer than a lot of the coastal options, and there’s a great walk round the headland to Swanpool. Grab a drink at Gylly beach café, or a takeaway loaf of delicious sourdough. Dogs are allowed all year except 15 May - 30 September between 1000 and 1800
Another wonderful option is Portreath Beach, a bit of a local secret, Portreath tends not to be overrun with tourists. It has surfboard hire, as well as lessons from surf HQ, and you can pop to The Hub for a coffee or The Atlantic for fish & chips. Dogs are welcome all year except from 1 July - 31 August between 1000 and 1800
Take a tour of the Enys Estate in Penryn. Welcoming dogs on leads, they have beautiful grounds, and ancient buildings strewn across a stunning estate filled with bluebells and woodland. Grab a drink at The Garden Café, and make an afternoon of it
Head out to the Bassett Monument, a 90-foot-high hexagonal obelisk erected in memory of Francis Bassett, Lord de Dunstaville. The site is already 738 feet above sea level, and gives views of Camborne and Redruth, and even better from the top of the monument!

Booking guide
Every booking at Paws & Stay is about the dog. You will see how many dogs are allowed at a place on their page and in search results and then you can add them during the booking process. While your dogs are more than welcome, of course, our owners hope you’ll still make sure your dogs are well behaved. There may occasionally be rooms (and furniture) that are off limits to dogs, but not to an extent that will impact your stay. If they can’t be in the room with you, they’ll have a lovely, cosy spot of their own. You can see any restrictions in the 'For the Dog' section of a place.
How to book
All you need to do is select an available check-in date, underlined in gold on the calendar, and see what options appear for your stay. If the stay is within ten weeks of the date on which you’re booking, you’ll need to pay the full cost of the stay. If it’s further than ten weeks away, you’ll have the option of paying a 25% deposit.
When you book, you’ll be able to use the email address you supply to log in and make any further payments whenever you like. We will notify you when your balance is due and be in touch if it goes unpaid past that date.
If you have any questions about a place, you can email us on bookings@pawsandstay.co.uk. Call us during office hours (Monday to Friday, except Bank Holidays, 0900 to 1800) if you have any problems with booking and we can usually sort things out over the phone.
Paying your balance
If you paid a deposit when you booked, we’ll let you know when your balance is due, but you can log in to your account, which is automatically created when you book, to pay it at any time. You can also log in and pay off a little of your balance at a time.
Deposits and balance payments
If your booking is made more than ten weeks in advance of your arrival date, you’ll have the option to pay a 25% deposit. The full balance will then be taken from the same card you pay with. You’ll be able to pay the balance on a different card at any time by giving us a call. If your balance payment fails, don’t worry. Your booking will not be cancelled but we will need to get in touch with you within a week to secure the balance payment.
