The place
The Stables at Hamilton is perfectly placed in rolling countryside, with walks all around and the odd pub and inn dotted about. Within a short drive, you’ll find yourself at one of many local towns nearby – like, Bath, Frome, Wells, Bruton or even Glastonbury in 40 minutes. With the option to head out and explore or simply take a quick sniff about the patchwork fields, the dog will be spoiled for choice – but if you don’t go anywhere, you still have plenty of ways to spend the day. There’s a modern kitchen to cook up meals to enjoy on the al fresco table whilst the dog frolics on the grass. The lounge has large French doors to enjoy the sunshine, and a wood burner for the cooler nights – perfect either way to pick a book up off the shelf and curl up with the dog. Best of all, if you’re topping off a day of lazing about and relaxing, finish off in the sauna for the ultimate laid back evening.
In the neighbourhood
- Walk from the door: Turn right out the gate, down Jack and Jill Hill to the right-hand side of the school. Left at the bottom along the lane to cycle route 24, an old railway line. Left towards Radstock and Bath. Right towards Mells, Babington, Great Elm and Frome
- Frome, 20-minute drive: Wonderfully dog-friendly, whilst your hound might not appreciate cobbled streets and period buildings, they will definitely enjoy the many pubs they can visit with a warm fire
- Bruton, 30-minute drive: Somehow this small town manages to be packed with shops and art galleries, and best of all – many places to take the dog for a spot to eat. Spend an afternoon exploring, then load up on local ingredients to take home!
- Jolliffe Arms, 15-minute walk: Just round the corner, you can head to the Joliffe Arms for a drink or a spot to eat. Take the dog for a quick jaunt and grab something to enjoy by a crackling wood burner. Just call ahead to let them know you’re bringing the dog!
