Why we love it
Two coasts in reach, national parks and lovely landscapes in every direction, with a cabin all to yourselves for lazy evenings by the firepit or in the wood-fired hot tub
"Safe garden to watch the world"
The garden is safe and has a raised decking to watch the world. The surrounding area is private, with only one other cabin nearby, and there's even a stream to jump in. Everything you could need for humans - great welcome basket, comfy bed.

The place
Roughly midway between the north and south coasts, Water’s Edge Cabin has national parks and landscapes in every direction, and the sea in easy reach. It’s the perfect place to bring your dog for a few days of strolling green fields and finding adventures inland or on the coast of Somerset and Devon. Your cabin has everything you need to keep you and a hound comfy – with a modern kitchen, a well-furnished bedroom, indoor bathroom and a living room complete with an indoor fireplace to snuggle up by at night. Once the day’s adventures are over, you can settle on the porch outside at the al fresco table, or better yet, relax in the suspended seat to watch sunset – and eagerly plan when you’ll make the move over to the wood-fired hot tub before you retire for the evening.
In the neighbourhood
- Walk from the door: Exit our field via the gate near the lake and turn right directly onto the Chard to Ilminster footpath. Follow the footpath until you get to the Donyatt Halt and turn right and head up Herne Hill. Do a loop of the nature reserve and pop in at The George at Donaytt pub on your way home for a well-deserved drink! Around 10km in total
- Monmouth Beach, 40-minute drive: Head down to the beach hut-lined shore of Monmouth for an afternoon of strolling the shingle and sniffing the fresh sea air
- The Bell at Broadway, 7-minute drive: With its roots going as far back as 1640, they must know a thing or two about a bite to eat and a pint. But believe it or not, pizza is now their specialty item, serving straight from a wood-fired oven
- The Blackdown Hills National Landscape, 10-minute drive: Head here for woods, moor, meadows, commons and castles to explore with the dog!
