The place
With room for seven, this cottage on the Welsh coast is ready to host you and the whole family (or a few friends) for days of relaxed countryside living. With Penbryn and Aberporth in easy reach, you might take cross-country wanders to the sea with a happy hound, a short drive to Ceredigion Bay, or head over to Cardigan for some days out. Locally, there’s plenty of places to bring the dog if you’re thinking of classic pub food, and roaring fires, but with a large modern kitchen, you might also just be hopping out to market towns to pick up fresh ingredients to serve up – either at the large table or outside in the sunshine. There are swings in the large, enclosed garden for the kids, and when the day closes, there’s a spacious lounge for all to gather in, review the day’s adventures, and plan what tomorrow will bring.
In the neighbourhood
- Walk from the door: Walk out of the driveway and turn right. A few paces up the lane on the left, head through the small metal gate, following it across several fields before coming out in the small village of Glynarthen. From here you can either turn left and walk in to Glynarthen and follow the lane back to Penbontbren or return across the public footpath.
- Penbryn Beach, 12-minute drive: You’re a mere three miles from the sea here, so a quick drive in the car will take you straight to the secluded sands and dramatic hillsides. Wander a little further down the coast, and you can find Tresaith Waterfall! Some seasonal restrictions may apply.
- Aberporth Beach, 9-minute drive: Another sandy stretch to visit with the dogs (dogs are welcome in designated areas year-round), and even better, it’s attached to the seaside town of Aberporth – worth a little wander and an explore.
- Y Bryn a'r Bragdy brewery & restaurant, 5-minute drive: You could take this on as an hour’s walk if you wanted, heading on over for stone-baked pizza and beer brewed right on site – which is not a bad idea, if you fancy a few.
