Why we love it

With plenty of walks and just a short drive from many of the other villages, Jasmine Cottage is the perfect base to explore the Cotswolds

What you'll love

Dogs will love

  • Shaking themselves dry after using the dedicated dog wash station
  • Showing off their belly to the log burner
  • Being King or Queen of the enclosed dog-proof garden

Humans will love

  • Sinking into the roll top bath
  • Plenty of days out to enjoy nearby
  • Miles and miles of walks to explore

The place

One of the nicest features of this place is the flexibility you have in choosing how busy (or not!) you are. There’s plenty of walks to tire out a dog, and with the River Eye running through the village, you can take them down to the ford for a splash around. You could choose to take in the slow village life, enjoy how quiet the local roads are when you get that well deserved lie in, or amble out for a stroll after a late breakfast – no hurrying back to wash the dog before lunch. Equally, you’ll notice how close you are to activities with so many other towns a short drive away. Whether you go out to eat or make use of the spacious walled garden to demonstrate your BBQ prowess, either way you’ll end up curled up on the sofa, listening to a crackling log burner.

In the neighbourhood

  • There are footpaths and bridleways out into the surrounding countryside for you and your dog to explore
  • Two dog-friendly pubs - The Slaughters Country Inn is just a 20-minute walk away in Lower Slaughter, and The Kingsbridge Inn in nearby Bourton-on-the-Water
  • A number of other charming Cotswold villages within a 20-minute drive: Lower Slaughter, Stow-on-the-Wold and Bourton-on-the-Water. Cheltenham is just a 30-minute drive away, with all its shopping, theatre, cinemas, restaurants and of course – the racecourse
  • Dunkerton’s Cider and farm shop is just a 25-minute drive away, with organic cider made on site, as well as a deli selling organic British charcuterie, olives and antipasti, as well as a selection of organic cheeses
  • The historic market town of Cirencester, worth a visit for the now ruinous Roman amphitheatre, followed by a tour of the Corinium museum, where the relics of the roman legacy of the town now rest. For those looking for more contemporary features, pop into the New Brewery Arts centre – housing local artisan’s work, studios and a café to refuel
  • Daylesford Farm shop just a 15-minute drive away, selling organic produce, organic meat, bread, and much more. As well as all the food on offer, there’s climate conscious cleaning products, homewares, skincare and wine – and events on occasion with chefs and authors coming to visit. It's so much more than just a farm shop!
