Dog-friendly holidays for Escape Artists

These Houdini hounds are the type to go for a nice walk, and the minute you turn your back, they’re gone in a flash and a hedge rustle. You can’t take them anywhere – or rather, they go everywhere themselves! These little escape artists will test boundaries, and your patience, but use their puppy eyes well for forgiveness – especially when pleading for a spot with an enclosed garden. We’ve rounded up the best places in our collection to take your Escape Artist on a holiday that works perfectly for you both.

About Paws & Stay dog-friendly holidays for Escape Artists

Where did Paws & Stay come from?

Paws & Stay is the result of a couple of decades of experience – and more importantly, a couple of decades of frustration. The dog-loving team behind Sawday’s and Canopy & Stars found that despite having lots of dog-friendly places to stay on their site, there were never enough options or people that wanted to travel with ALL the family. So, our travel company that truly caters for four-legged friends was born.

What makes a place right for Paws & Stay?

We were only founded in 2021 so we’re still a wee pup and there’s still so much more to come. So, whilst you can find a dog-friendly holiday at the end of Cornwall and a spot in Scotland, there’ll be even more places to hang your hat (and your lead) by the end of the week. And more by the next. And so on.

How do we know each place is good enough?

There’s only one way to find out if a place is good enough, and that’s try it. That’s why we visit and inspect every place that comes on board with us. We send a human inspector, and more importantly, a dog inspector, to every place. We make sure the enclosed garden is really enclosed, the hot tub bubbly – and the dog-friendly pubs, cafés and restaurants nearby are, well... dog friendly and nearby.

How enclosed are your enclosed gardens?

Depends on the place! We always check what ‘enclosed’ really means, and because it varies, and dogs differ, we like to mention if there are any concerns. After all, what stops a dachshund, probably won’t stop an Irish wolfhound. That’s why we let you know if there’s room for a little one to squeeze under or if the boundary is low enough for a big dog to leap over – or if it’s a total Fort Knox.
